PORTFOLIO: RETREATS: Lopez Cottage

This cottage was a Sears pre-manufactured kit house from the 1920's, which the owners barged from Victoria, B.C. to their farm on Lopez Island. By adding a bay window and removing most interior walls, the 550-square foot cottage feels spacious due to the new open plan, abundant windows and an easy connection to its pastoral setting. With careful attention to the scale and detail of the original cottage, the new construction blends seamlessly with the old.
