PORTFOLIO: RENOVATIONS: Tunturi Farm

For the owners of this mid-19th century estate in northern Vermont, we renovated the existing farmhouse and added a new wing to house a kitchen, living area and master bedroom suite. A Classical Revival style, consistent with Vermont’s 19th century architectural tradition, was used for the additions, which nearly doubled the original size of the house. Construction of a new barn and outbuildings and careful site planning assured an organized spatial sequence approaching the house and provided a smooth progression from the rugged farm terrain to the more civilized domestic landscape.
