PORTFOLIO: OTHER: Boathouse

AIA | Seattle Times Home of the Month Award | March 1990

The design intent was to preserve the original character of this early 20th century boathouse on Portage Bay, while giving it new life as a single-family residence. Originally used for boat building and repair, the memory of this function is preserved in the scale of the living room, large enough to house a small boat, and in the industrial size sliding doors, which open directly to the water.
